Raising the Bar for 2SLGBTQ+ Youth

Working with a diverse range of organizations and young people, Wisdom2Action (W2A) co-created two resources to support the effective implementation of 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion within youth serving organizations. This session will share the key takeaways from these resources and provide insights into how providers and youth can be champions for structural organizational change on 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion. These resources articulate both a vision for 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion in the youth serving sector and how we get there. The process articulated through this symposium will be of immense value to organizations that often struggle to meaningfully implement inclusion due to a lack of processes or roadmaps.

Key Learnings

  • Systemic and institutional oppression are major factors that contribute to decreased health and well-being of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals.
  • 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion needs to be implemented as a core policy, processes and practice.
  • Wisdom2Action will take an implementation-based approach to introducing new practices to an organization, helping to ensure changes stick.
