Bio
Kevin (he/him) is a retired high school Vice-principal and person with lived/living experience in mental health. As a caregiver, advocate and presenter, Kevin has shared his personal journey with thousands of youth across the province. His focus is to engage youth and “normalize” the conversation around mental health and he strives to stop the stigma around seeking help. Kevin challenges misconceptions and misunderstandings about what mental illness is and what it is not and considers himself a mental illness disruptor. Not the scary kind of disruptor though - he loves to weave humour into his workshops and presentations. Kevin’s background in education, coaching, and advocating for youth mental health has allowed him to work collaboratively with a very diverse population of students and youth. He joined Groundbreakers after experiencing the outstanding work Frayme does supporting youth, their families and communities, and he continues to work on Groundbreakers' projects.
