Frayme Learning Institute
The Learning Institute is one of Canada’s only nation-wide annual conference solely dedicated to youth mental health and substance use (YMHSU) system transformation. It provides a unique opportunity to bring together different players in the sector across diverse disciplines, backgrounds and experiences to drive knowledge into action.
Frayme’s fourth annual Learning Institute took place as a hybrid event from February 22-23, 2023, in Vancouver, BC. This year, we asked participants to showcase their stories of partnership, collaboration and knowledge sharing to improve the Canadian YMHSU system. The Learning Institute provided a platform to share stories about initiatives that are leveraging data, indicators and standards to increase inclusivity, diversity and equity through meaningful engagement.
What does your ideal Canadian youth mental health and substance use system look like? This year, we’re asking you to ideate so that we can carve out a path to a better system that meets the needs of our youth, families, advocates, service providers and all others involved in the YMHSU sector. Through this theme, we will be showcasing services and programs that model excellence in engagement, are evidence-based and most importantly, place equity and accessibility at the forefront of design.
Following on the success of Frayme’s first Learning Institute (LI) in 2020, Frayme 2021 brought together national and international partners across diverse disciplines, backgrounds, and experiences to facilitate reflection and information sharing. Frayme 2021 focused on providing a platform for the changemakers who are working to bring more equitable, youth friendly, accessible and innovative services to support youth and families in communities across Canada.
Frayme 2020 provided opportunities to engage with others, share ideas and challenges, and
tap into the knowledge and expertise of key players in the field of youth mental health
and substance use services. Most importantly, it was an opportunity to come together to
amplify system transformation through integrated youth services and care for youth. The
Learning Institute intended to galvanize partners and communities to work towards a
collective understanding of best practices and core components of Integrated Youth
Services; so that we can all move in the same direction.
